Firebug is an open source and free web browser add-on for Mozilla Firefox which facilitated the management, editing, debugging and monitoring of the CSS, HTML, HTML5, and JavaScript of any web site. A few years ago, Firebug had some pretty bad publicity due to several people gaining unauthorized access to someone's computer via a bug in the software that meant that many sites could be accessed without authorisation. Firebug has since been re-branded and is now known simply as Firebug. Unfortunately, there are still people out there who may try and obtain Firebug for free, but it will cost you dearly in the long run as the majority of its features are not free or open-sourced.
To download Firebug, first you have to get hold of a copy of Internet Explorer v6 which is the default web browsers on most PCs. Next, you need to go onto the Microsoft website and download the latest version of Internet Explorer v6, which is Firebug v2. Installation of Firebug on your system should now be a breeze. Simply download the installer and install it (by clicking on the "install" button on the Firebug main menu) and then let it install the various files & settings required by your PC to run the program correctly.
Finally, Firebug can be found at the Google Webmaster Tools extension which allows you to search and download Firebug from Google. It is important to note that Firebug does not work with the latest version of Internet Explorer v6, so if you are using that application you are going to be unable to use Firebug unless you upgrade to that version. Firebug does work with Internet Explorer v5 though, so if you happen to find this application on a free website we've found it works with v5 as well.
